Who is she?
Malena is a junior gymnast from Argentina. She was born on April 27th 1998. She lives in Buenos Aires.
Where does she train and with whom?
She trains at Centro Nacional de Alto Rendimiento (Cenard). Her coach is Darío Guevara. This year Darío is working with Florencia Gugliada. Both have been nationals coaches in recent years.
Does she have much competitive experience?
She competed at the South American Pre-Junior Championship in 2010. She won silver on beam at the 2012 Junior Pan American Championship and was third AA at the 2012 South American Junior Championship.
What makes her an exciting prospect?
She has beautiful lines and a classic dance style. She studied jazz dance for two years and then two years more of classic dance at Julio Bocca’s school at the same time she was doing gymnastics at a local club. Then she decided to train hard in gymnastics at the national elite center (CENARD).
When do you think we will get to see her in competition next?
Nationals and Southamerican Championships. Her country has not decided yet which international competitions they will be attending.
What are you hoping she will develop in the coming years?
She is busy trying to increase her D scores. 2012 was a great year for her. She has represented Argentina at many championships and earned valuable experience in doing so.
What routine of hers should we watch?
Her beam silver medal routine at 2012 Juniors Panamerican Championship and one of her floor routines (beautiful hands!)
