Komova Deals with Back Injury
The Russian press is reporting that Olympic silver medallist Viktoriya Komova has a back injury.
The injury which started as pain last week was immediately given small-scale treatment. However, her condition worsened and she is seeking an accurate diagnosis and a treatment plan.
This puts Komova’s attendance at the Russian Championships in Penza, which is the selection competition for the the European Championships in question. These Championships are on home soil this year, held in Moscow in April. Russian Championships are held in the first week of March.
It is not clear whether Komova would still be able to make a bid for the team, but granted she is the Olympic all-around silver medallist, it seems very likely to take her regardless of if she competes a full meet in Penza if she can compete one or two events.
We wish her a speedy recovery.

I hope she takes time to not only heal but to strengthen her back . Vika has done some heavy lifting for the team for 2 years whilst injured herself.
Grishina will have to step up . Here is her chance to redeem herself & earn some needed money for her family.

I feel so sorry for her! Vika has had an intense past couple years and she needs to rest and heal completely: physically, mentally, and emotionally, especially if she’s going to try and make it through 2016. I think it might be best if she doesn’t compete at all this year. Perhaps this injury will be a blessing in disguise to allow her to get the rest she needs!
