Marta Pihan–Kulesza (POL) – July 23, 1987
Marta gives gymnastics a different sparkle, quite literally. The Polish gymnast is well known for the colour on her hair braids and her nail polish that more than once has featured her national flag.
Marta is a complete gymnast that has seen the best part of her career come after her twentieth birthday. She attended her first Olympics in Beijing at the age of 21 where she finished 44th all-around. After the Olympics Marta married fellow gymnast Roman Kulesza. They are the only married couple to currently compete at elite level.
Marta’s name is a very well known name in the World Cup circuit; especially in this 2012 when she participated in all the Challenger World Cups en route to London. As an all-arounder Marta’s biggest accomplishment is a 20 place finish at the 2010 World Championships. Marta is also a beam specialist and her effort paid off in Rotterdam where she was third reserve to the World Beam final. She is also very strong on floor with. She is unique because she can really perform to strong music. No one can do floor to Assasin Tango like her. Bars is n decent event for her; clean execution has earned her several spots in finals at World Cup competition.
Along to the several World Cup medals she owns, she’s been at multiple European finals and has also been National Champion several times throughout her career.
