The event finals took place on Monday in Rio. The two Romanians qualified for the finals, Catalina Ponor and Diana Bulimar, scratched (floor for Bulimar and beam and floor for Ponor) choosing to rest and recover after the shock of the previous day.

In the vault final, Dipa Karmakar did her signature Produnova (very low, almost sat) and a double twisting Tsukahara (much better executed) and won the gold medal. She was followed on the podium by Oksana Chusovitina (Rudi, Tsukahara 1 1/2). Emily Little took the bronze with a double twisting Yurchenko and a Tsukahara 1/1.

Vault results:

Elisabeth Seitz (15.133/6.6) and Sophie Scheder (15.033/6.4) dominated the bars final and won the gold and silver medals respectively. Germany also had the highest team score for bars so they ruled this event in Rio both days. Rebecca Andrade (14.433/6.0) took the bronze medal after a clean routine. I had been a little worried about her mental game lately, especially on bars, but it looks like she can hit when it counts.

Bars results:

Sanne Wevers won the beam title (14.800/6.4) despite a little wobble after the acro series (side aerial to side aerial to aerial walkover) but she hit every thing else. Her series of pirouettes – L turn to full turn to double turn to split leap – looked impressive too. Flavia Saraiva hit an equally impressive an intricate beam routine (she literally tumbles forward and backward along the beam) for a 14.733/6.2 and won the silver. 3rd was Lieke Wevers, with the highest execution score of the three but considerably lower difficulty (14.366/8.66).

Beam results:

Flavia Saraiva won the floor final with a great score of 14.400 (5.8). She had as tumbling a 1 1/2 to front 2/1, full in, double pike and double tuck. Third was the very elegant Larrissa Miller who also stepped out of bounds with both legs on the first pass (front double tuck) (13.7/5.8). Leah Griesser of Germany won the bronze (13.566/5.4) with her beautifully choreographed routine (watch here  her performance from qualifications).

Floor results:
