In the 2nd subdivision of the Test Event, the teams two competing were Brazil and Switzerland. They had placed nine and fifteen respectively in qualifications at the 2015 Worlds.

Brazil started with solid beam rotation: Hypolito set the stage with a 14.166, followed by another solid performance from Jade Barbosa (14.233). Flavia Saraiva had a few bobbles, compared to her other rock solid performances this year but still delivered the team’s stop score with a 14.566. Lorrane Oliveira had an easier but hit routine (13.566). Carolyn Pedro had the only fall of the team on this rotation (on a switch leap to back tuck, according to Lauren), for a 12.466. Daniele Hypolito was also the first one up on floor and received a 13.933. Barbosa then hit all her passes and was rewarded with a 13.891, she was followed by Saraiva who got a 14.15 (and it looks like the crowed loved her routine that I hadn’t believed in so far). Pedro again had the only fall of the team (12.300). Vault was an immense rotation for Brazil, with no less than 5 double twisting Yurchenkos. Jade Barbosa, once a world medalist on vault had the best score (14.966), followed by Andrade (miss Amanar) – 14.933. Lorrane Oliveira (14.608) and Flavia Saraiva (14.533) also had vaults that counted towards the team total. On the last rotation the only fall of the team came from the super experienced Jade Barbosa. But Oliveira and Andrade broke the 14 barrier, while Saraiva and Pedro also had hit routines, so Jade’s score was discarded. Brazil’s total was a 226.477 which will definitely be enough to qualify them to the Olympics, although there are still 4 teams to go.

Swizerland had a huge day. They started on floor, with a massive routine from Giulia Steingruber (14.708) and correct performances from Kaslin (13.533) Barloggio (12.966) and Schulte (12.833). On vault Steingruber did a good Rudi for a 15.066. Brogli, Kaeslin and Schulte contributed with good FTYs. Bars was a consistent rotation with four scores between 13.2 to 13.6. On beam the top two gymnasts delivered again Giulia Steingruber(14.233) and Ilaria Kaeslin (13.800) while scores in the low 13s from Siegenthaler and Brogli also counted. Thus Switzeland finished the day with a 218.336, ahead of Romania and within less than .1 behind Australia.

Team results after subdivision two:

Among the individual competitors of this subdivision, Jessica Lopez had the highest all around total (55.265). She did a good double twisting Yurchenko and had very consistent performances with scores in the mid 13s on bars, beam and floor. Also virtually qualified to the Olympics are now Vasiliki Millousi (54.431 all around total), Angelina Kysla from Ukraine (54.199) and Oksana Chusovitina (52.465).

Sanne and Lieke Wevers also competed in this subdivision, although not all around. Sanne had a perfect day with a 14.6 on balance beam (she matched Catalina Ponor’s score) and a 14.0 on bars (she sits in 5th after two subdivisions). Lieke did beam (14.508) and debuted a new routine on floor, with the music from Schindler’s List (13.50).

The two British gymnasts competed on uneven bars and beam. On bars, Gabby Jupp sits in 1st place halfway though this qualifications, with a 14.433 while Becky Downie fell twice (on a release and on a Pak salto). Their beam rotation didn’t go too well either with scores in the low 13s.
