A friendly match between the teams of Belgium, Germany and Romania will take place in Mouscron (Belgium), on the 3rd of April, at 16:00 local time.

For the host, the gymnasts competing are: Senna Deriks, Rune Hermans, Axelle Klinckaert, Gaelle Mys, Cindy Vandenhole, Laura Waem. Julie Mayers and Julie Crocket will compete individually.

Nina Derwael, who has had good results and was one of Belgium’s top hopes for the Rio Test event, injured her hand and will not be competing. She will not require surgery but her state for the Olympics qualifier is uncertain.

The German team consists of Leah Griesser, Pauline Tratz, Sarah Voss, Maike Enderle, Amelie Foellinger and Carina Kroell.

The Romanians travelling are: Diana Bulimar, Catalina Ponor, Dora Vulcan, Maria Holbura, Andreea Iridon, Silvia Zarzu, Denisa Stanciu. Since only six gymnasts are required for each team, it is likely that one of the Romanians will get to compete individually.

Notice the absence of Laura Jurca and Anamaria Ocolisan. If they are out injured, things are looking grim for Romania.

The meet will start with a junior competition between Belgium and Romania, at 12:00 local time. The Belgian gymnasts to compete are: Manon Muller, Alysha Senders, Myrthe Potoms, Maellyse Brassart and Chloé Leblic. Rinke Santy and Britt Vanneste will compete individually.

The Romanian junior team is composed of: Olivia Cimpean, Carmen Ghiciuc, Teodora Crisan, Alexandra Mihai, Denisa Golgota and Alisia Botnaru.

The organisers warn that tickets are sold out so travelling to the competition if you don’t have a ticket already is pointless.

However, fear not. Because The Couch Gymnast will be there taking notes and videos. There will be no live updates as there is no wifi available in the arena, but I will try to post updates and results as soon as possible.
