Thanks to the bmbul account on youtube we have the essentials in video from the final day of WAG at the Asian Games.
In the beam final, North Korean Kim Unhyang threw in some impressive difficulty and for the gold medal. She was extremely happy with her achievement and there were tears of joy on the podium. Phan from Vietnam had a clean and well executed routine to take the silver medal.
Shang Chunsong is said to be injured but she still managed to win two medals – silver on floor and bronze on beam – despite struggling with her twisting elements. On beam she had a rock-solid routine right until the dismount, when she unexpectedly fell on the triple full.
Here are the videos for the three beam medalists:
Phan – silver
Shang – bronze
Kim – gold
In the floor final Yao managed to overtake a slightly injured Shang, struggling with low landings on the elements connected after the twisting passes. In the video below you can watch the top two routines, without audio, unfortunately. I really enjoyed watching them even without the music, for the attention to detail of the choreo. Some find the wide gestures and over-use of arms movement slightly overwhelming (sometimes amusing), but I appreciate the fact their originality and the dedication it takes to pull off such a routine.
